Dr Ramesh Sinanan
MUCM President

Brief Bio:
Ramesh has a PhD in Sociology and has been in field of education for more than 30 years. A graduate of Columbia University, Dr. Ramesh held various roles in his exemplary career, as a social worker, campus administrator, academic dean, and counselor. As a key academic and administrative official for Monroe College, New York, Dr. Ramesh was instrumental in setting up the St. Lucia campus of Monroe college from obtaining a license to establishing a world-class facility that has passed several accreditations to running an efficient academic program. Dr. Ramesh has also worked as a consultant for medical schools in the Caribbean.

Dr Sudhakar Avancha
University Executive Vice President

Brief Bio:
Sudhakar Avancha graduated from Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College, Gulbarga, India and subsequently finished an MBA with specialization in hospital management. In the field of education, he held various academic and administrative positions. During his career, he has served as the Academic Dean, Dean of Students, and Student Counsellor. He successfully ran the premedical and basic science portions of the MD program for multiple years in St. Lucia. He revamped the student services department as Dean of Students making it more student oriented, running several counseling programs for students, helping them cope with the academic and personal stress.

Dr George Turner
Academic Dean for Preclinical sciences

Brief Bio:
Turner has Ph.D. in Biology (1989) from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD, USA, with Thesis on “Using Mutant and Chemically Modified Hemoglobins to Probe the Molecular Mechanism of Cooperativity”. He has a BSc., Zoology and a B.A., in Religion from Duke University, Durham, NC, USA. Dr. Turner is a well-published academician with vast academic/teaching experience that includes serving as the Professor and Dean Pre-Medical Sciences and Dean of Basic Sciences at Atlantic University School of Medicine, Saint Lucia, WI; Associate Professor in Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ; Assistant Professor in Department of Physiology & Biophysics, University of Miami School of Medicine, Miami, Florida; and Research Faculty and as National Institutes of Health Post-Doctoral Fellow in Department of Biochemistry & Biophysics, University of California at San Francisco, San Francisco, CA.

Dr Gurpreet Sandhu
Dean for Clinical Sciences and Dean of Operations

Brief Bio:
Sandhu’s education includes Research fellowship with credits- University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH, USA; Research fellowship non-credits- University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI, USA; and MBBS- Government Medical College Chandigarh, Panjab University, India. He is currently also serving as a Research Scientist, Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, WI, USA, where he is working on a research project “Does BANK1 alter B lymphocyte signaling?”; and “Biological effects of Stat 5a/b in prostate cancer are mediated by c-myc”. At University of Cincinnati, he worked on “Lymphangioleiomyomatosis- should we withdraw sirolimus upon listing for lung transplant?”; and “the mechanism of GPR116 in pulmonary alveolar homeostasis”. At University of Wisconsin, he previously worked on ““Blood Pressure, Artery Size, and Artery Compliance Parallel Bone Size and Strength in Mice with Differing Ece1 Expression”. Dr. Sandhu’s professional experience include working as Assistant Professor at Atlantic University School of Medicine, Saint Lucia/Antigua where he worked in Department of Pathology and Pharmacology; instructor of pathology at St Martinus University School of Medicine, Otrabanda, Curaçao; and as tutor of pathology at St George’s University, Grenada.

Dr Harini Sripati
Dean of Students and Director of Academic Administration

Brief Bio:
Harini graduated from Rangaraya Medical College, India. She is a practicing physician in India affiliated with Andhra Pradesh Medical Council. Dr. Harini held various academic and administrative positions during her career. She served as an associate Dean of students and subsequently served as the Dean of Students at Atlantic University School of Medicine. Dr. Harini manages the administrative support needed for the delivery of all the academic programs offered by the University as well as the operations of student support services.

Dr Bhadresh Patel
Director for global clinical education
Brief Bio:
Bhadresh Patel is a practicing physician in the State of Florida. Dr. Patel graduated from Hahnemann University in 1995 and also attended KLM School of Medicine and Research for general surgery from 1987-1990. He then became Board Certified in 1996. Dr. Bhadresh Patel has more than 23 years’ experience with an established group practice as he has been in practice with West Florida Medical Associates since 1995. He has worked at various levels from secretary, to treasurer, and president. He also serves as the Executive strategic administrator for NEXT ACO of Nature Coast. He is affiliated with Citrus Memorial Hospital where he serves as Chief of Staff. Dr. Bhadresh is the recipient of several awards notably Patient’s choice award during multiple years. He served on QA Committee, Peer Review Committee, Ethics Committee, and Physician Advisory Board. He was active staff of Seven Rivers Hospital and previous Chief of Staff from 2015 – 2017.

Dr Naveen Urs

Brief Bio:
Naveen Urs is a Consultant Radiologist at Tapion Hospital in St. Lucia. Dr. Urs obtained graduated from Bangalore University, India. He finished his DM in Radiology from J.J.M Medical College, India. He is a Fellow of the Endovascular Interventional society of India. Dr. Urs is the managing partner and Chief Radiologist of Gablewoods Medical Centre – Tapion Hospital Department of Radiology. He has previously worked as Consultant Interventional Radiologist and Director of the Department of Radiology at Sagar Apollo Hospital, Bangalore, India from 2003 – 2005. He has also worked as the Consultant Interventional Radiologist and Head of the Radiology Department at Wockhardt Hospital, Bangalore, India from 1993 – 2003.

Sandra Ashiboe-Mensah
Associate Dean of Students
Brief Bio:
Ashiboe-Mensah has an MSc. In Medical Microbiology from University of West Indies, St Augustine, Trinidad and BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry from University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. She serves as the associate dean of students managing the day-to-day student support issues. Mrs. Ashiboe-Mensah served as lecturer at College of Science, Technology, and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAAT) where she was responsible for the planning of microbiology simulation practicum with consultant for bachelor level medical lab technology students, development of working manual for microbiology at the bachelor level, updating course outlines for Immunology/Serology, Microbiology, Clinical Chemistry, Laboratory Mathematics, Lab Techniques, Organic chemistry, and Biochemistry.
