Metropolitan University College of Medicine has a formal charter from the Ministry of Education, Government of the Antigua and Barbuda since 2017. This charter grants Metropolitan University the right to confer the Doctor of Medicine degree upon its graduates, who will then be eligible for medical licensure. All academic programs offered by the University are approved by the National Accreditation Board of Antigua and Barbuda.
The University is undergoing WFME-Accreditation under CAAM-HP. The academic program, organizational structure, and student support programs have met the guidelines of CAAM-HP reviewers. A site visit for concluding the accreditation is currently pending, delayed due to the COVID pandemic-related restrictions in travel of site inspectors.
